Medical Collections Specialist-Clifton, NJ
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Collections Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement by managing the full spectrum of insurance collections, claims follow-up, and verification processes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Follow up on outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely payment.
Submit post-service appeals and track responses through resolution.
Prepare and submit required documentation for arbitration and/or NSA (No Surprises Act) cases.
Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits for accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with insurance providers to confirm coverage, resolve discrepancies, and address denials.
Collaborate with the precertification and billing teams to ensure seamless authorization and claims submission.
Maintain detailed and organized documentation of all verification and collection activities.
Proactively identify and resolve insurance-related issues to optimize collections.
Qualifications
Proven experience in medical collections, billing, or revenue cycle management.
Strong understanding of insurance policies, medical terminology, and EOBs.
Experience with Workers’ Compensation (NY & NJ), Personal Injury, Slip and Fall, and LOP cases.
Familiarity with various insurance plans and verification processes.
Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and insurance verification software.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Certification
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certification in medical billing or healthcare administration preferred.
