ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Medical Biller plays a critical role in supporting the practice's billing operations and revenue cycle management (RCM). You will be responsible for managing billing workflows from submission through resolution, working closely with both clinical and administrative teams to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and thrives in a team-oriented setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage end-to-end medical billing processes and support revenue cycle management (RCM)
Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims in a timely and accurate manner
Handle in-network and out-of-network (OON) billing, including IDR processes and personal injury (PI) case management
Review claims for accuracy; identify and resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing discrepancies
Assist with posting payments and reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs)
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to and at time of service
Respond to and resolve patient billing inquiries in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner — via phone and in person
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, billing records, and patient accounts
Work with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding to ensure correct charge capture
Collaborate with clinical and front desk teams to streamline billing workflows and resolve documentation gaps
Stay current on payer policies, coding updates, and regulatory changes affecting medical billing
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
Minimum 2+ years of experience in medical billing and/or revenue cycle management
Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
Experience with in-network and out-of-network billing, IDR processes, and/or personal injury billing preferred
Proficiency with medical billing/practice management software (e.g., AdvancedMD, Kareo, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Epic, or similar)
Comfortable using Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs) for daily workflow and communication
Solid understanding of insurance verification, claim submission, payment posting, and denial management
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Orthopedic or musculoskeletal billing experience, preferred but not required.
Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Familiarity with workers' compensation and personal injury billing workflows
