Responsibilities
Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and other phlebotomy techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety
Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing, adhering to aseptic techniques and laboratory protocols
Verify patient identities and maintain precise documentation of all specimen collection activities
Monitor vital signs and assess patient physiology as needed during specimen collection procedures
Maintain a clean, organized work environment by following infection control standards and laboratory procedures
Assist with patient care activities, providing excellent patient service and addressing questions or concerns professionally
Support laboratory staff by performing basic laboratory techniques and assisting with routine tasks as required
Requirements
Prior experience or training in laboratory procedures, venipuncture, or clinical laboratory work is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and blood sampling techniques is highly desirable
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations
Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks involved in specimen collection and transport
Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills for patient interaction and documentation
Hospital experience or familiarity with healthcare environments is advantageous but not essential; a proactive attitude toward learning is key
Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to patient safety and quality care
