Job Summary

We are seeking a detail oriented Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes and coding systems to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. They would also be able to work in the office Monday to Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM

Responsibilities

Review and verify medical documentation for accuracy and completeness

Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems

Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper

Follow up on unpaid claims and resubmit when necessary

Process payments from insurance companies and patients

Maintain patient billing records in compliance with regulatory standards

Handle patient inquiries regarding billing issues

Experience

Previous experience in medical billing, medical collections, or medical office administration

Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding

Familiarity with medical billing software systems

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of six (6) months work experience in a supervised setting, preferably health care facility.

What you will be doing:


  • Assist with daily activities to help clients stay independent and in their own homes.

  • Provide assistance with personal care activities including but not limited to: bathing, shaving, skin/nail care, shampooing, oral hygiene, dressing, range of motion exercises, and assistance in ambulation exercises.

  • Assist with mobility, transfers and range of motion exercises.

  • Handle meal planning, preparation and feeding.

  • Properly manage household needs.

  • Provide companionship and respite services for the family.

  • Assists in the administration of medications that are ordinarily self-administered under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse.

  • Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the Registered Nurse. Follows reporting guidelines in the Plan of Care/Aide Care Plan.

  • Documents care provided and completes the forms required for the client's records. Completes the appropriate records to document care given and pertinent observations.

  • Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following Agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the supervisor.

  • Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment.

  • Communicates effectively with family and all members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Job description: Specimen Collection & Handling:

Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures (finger sticks/heel sticks for infants) on diverse patient populations, determining the most appropriate method based on patient age, health, and test requirements,

Adhere to strict infection control and safety guidelines, including proper hand hygiene, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), and the safe disposal of all used sharps and biohazardous materials,

Greet and identify patients using a minimum of two identifiers (e,g,, name and date of birth) to ensure the correct procedure is performed on the correct individual,

Clearly explain blood collection procedures to patients to help them understand the process and alleviate any fears or concerns they may have,

Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience when interacting with patients, visitors, and other medical professionals,

Accurately label all collected blood and non-blood specimens (such as urine or oral fluid samples) immediately following collection and verify all patient information matches the test orders,

Enter patient demographics, test orders, and collection information into laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic health records (EHR) with meticulous detail,

Maintain an organized and sanitary work station, manage inventory, and assist with ordering supplies as needed,

Comply with all legal regulations and privacy rights, such as HIPAA, related to the handling of patient information and medical records,

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED), Successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program,

Experience Required:

Completion of all mandatory orientation programs and clinical training hours (often 20-40 hours of supervised practical experience) as part of the education program,

Preferred:

Prior experience in a fast-paced medical setting, such as a hospital or diagnostic laboratory, is highly desirable,

Licenses and Certifications

Required:

Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification

Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) from the National Health career Association (NHA), or

Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or

Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) from American Medical Technologists (AMT),
