Caregiver Responsibilities:

  • Provides friendly companionship and assistance with daily activities including dressing guidance, grooming, meal preparation, medication reminders, running errands, laundry, and light housekeeping

  • Personal Care including bathing, dressing, mobility, incontinence care, feeding and other services

  • Provides transportation to doctor’s appointments, beauty shops, etc.

Caregiver Requirements:

  • Companionship and Personal Care experience required

  • A passion for the job and genuine desire to help others

  • Must have reliable transportation with a willingness to travel within [Hudson] /county

  • Up-to-date car insurance in your name, registration, and valid Driver’s License (Only if you will be using a vehicle)

  • Ability to pass background checks and work-related references

  • Must pass drug testing if required

Position Overview:

We are currently building our pool of compassionate and dedicated Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs) who value personal growth, professional development, and delivering exceptional, client-centered care. Ideal candidates bring a positive attitude, adaptability to clients’ needs, and a genuine passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on personal care and assistance with daily living activities

  • Support client independence while ensuring safety and well-being

  • Follow individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and document as required

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and Dharma Home Care staff

Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensure: Must hold an active New Jersey Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) license in good standing.

  • Physical Ability: Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of this position.

  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.

  • References: Must provide at least two verifiable professional references.

  • Work History: Must provide verifiable employment history for the past 12 months.

  • Background Check: Must successfully pass a national criminal background check (including any additional screenings required by the State of New Jersey).

  • Health Requirements: Must provide proof of the following:

  • Valid physical examination within the last year

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray

  • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination

Overview:

As a Home Health Aide at Vitality Health Care, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in the comfort of their own homes. You will be responsible for assisting clients with their daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being. This position requires empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills to establish trust and rapport with clients and their families.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.

  • Assist clients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate techniques and equipment.

  • Support clients with their nutritional needs, including meal preparation and feeding assistance if required.

  • Administer medications under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or licensed healthcare professional.

  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as laundry, washing dishes, and tidying living areas.

  • Monitor and report changes in clients' health status or behavior to the supervising nurse or healthcare provider.

  • Foster a safe and supportive environment for clients, ensuring their comfort and security at all times.

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, engaging in meaningful interactions and activities.

  • Document all care provided accurately and timely in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated care delivery.

  • Participate in ongoing training and educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in home health care practices.

  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, maintaining confidentiality and respecting clients' rights and dignity.

  • Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and hygienic environment to prevent the spread of illness and infection.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide training program preferred.

  • Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA)

  • Previous experience in home care, long-term care, or related healthcare settings preferred.

  • CPR and first aid certification preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.

  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards the needs of clients and their families.

  • Ability to follow care plans and instructions accurately and responsibly.

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license, if required to travel to clients' homes.

  • Ability to lift and move clients safely, as needed, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on client needs and scheduling requirements.


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods.

  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform tasks such as bathing, grooming, and light housekeeping.


Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily takes place in clients' homes, which may vary in terms of cleanliness, accessibility, and environmental conditions.
