Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program
Valid Phlebotomy certification (required or preferred, as per state law)
Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic is critical to our commitment to high quality care for our patients and those of our partners.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Description:
The Plasma Center Specialist will operate under the direct supervision of the Center Manager and more generally under the Medical/Laboratory Director, and at times will take instruction from the Quality Assurance Manager and Physician Substitute on site. The Plasma Center Specialist ensures donor suitability, product integrity and the continued good health of donors through the compliance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, state regulations, and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual guidelines and any other applicable regulatory standards.

Job Description:
Pay Range: $18 - $23 per hour
SCOPE: Under minimal supervision, is responsible for the collecting and processing of specimens from patients. Follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Assists with patient flow as needed. Properly identifies patient, draws blood samples and sends to laboratory for analysis. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties. Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs phlebotomy and collects appropriate specimens from patients as ordered. Assures pre-authorizations and completes appropriate consent (ABN) prior to collection of limited coverage tests.
